Reslin® is a 100% biodegradable, plant-based resin – ideal for creating decorative, artistic, or functional pieces. But to achieve professional-quality results, it's essential to follow the correct preparation, mixing, and curing steps. Here's the full Reslin® guide, step by step:
⚖️ 1. Correct Reslin® Ratios: Activator vs. Oil
Basic rule:
➡️ 1 part activator : 2 parts Reslin® oil
🔹 Without additives (or just pigment):
-
Fill your mold with water and weigh it in grams.
-
Divide the weight by 3:
-
1/3 Reslin® activator
-
2/3 Reslin® oil
-
📌 Example: If your mold holds 300g of water → use 100g activator + 200g oil
🔹 With GlassRoxx®:
-
Weigh the water as above.
-
Double the water weight to get the total mixture weight.
-
Use:
-
2/3 of the total weight = GlassRoxx®
-
1/3 = Reslin® (1:2 activator/oil)
-
📌 Example: Mold holds 300g water → total 600g
→ 400g GlassRoxx®, 133g oil, 67g activator
🌡️ 2. Preheating the Components
For optimal results:
-
Preheat both oil and activator in a convection oven at 60°C (140°F) for 20 minutes.
-
❗ Do not use a microwave!
-
If you're using GlassRoxx® or Reslin® glass beads, gently warm them too, to prevent rapid cooling of the mixture.
🌀 3. Mixing the Components
-
Pour the oil into the activator for easier mixing.
-
Stir for a few minutes until there are no visible dark areas from the activator.
-
Use a thermometer to check the temperature is correct.
💡 Now you can add:
GlassRoxx®, mica powders, pigments, dried plants, coffee, etc.
⚠️ Do not use water-based (acrylic) additives.
You have about 15 minutes to pour the mixture into the mold.
🧊 4. Pouring into the Mold
-
Without additives: pour the mixture directly into the mold.
-
With additives: gently press the materials in using a stick or spatula.
-
Let the mixture rest for 20 minutes before curing.
♨️ 5. Two-Phase Curing Process
Use a convection oven for even curing:
-
Phase 1: 20 minutes at 90°C (200°F)
-
Phase 2: raise the temperature to 120°C (250°F) and cure for another 20 minutes
⚠️ Do not open the oven between phases!
❄️ 6. Cooling & Demolding
You have two options:
🔹 Natural Cooling
Let the object cool at room temperature.
⚠️ Be careful: the surface may feel cold, but the inside might still be hot!
🔹 Fast Cooling
Dip the mold into cold water after curing (only if the object has cooled internally).
🕒 The Reslin® object is fully hardened in 12 hours and ready to use!
